Ceremonial Cacao Blend
This ready-made blend combines raw Peruvian cacao paste with traditional warming spices, allowing you to easily prepare a ceremonial cacao drink with just hot water or milk. The cacao base comes from cooperatives of growers in the Peruvian Amazon and is cold-pressed from unroasted beans to preserve the full theobromine profile. The spice blend is already added in carefully measured proportions.
The formula contains cardamom, Ceylon cinnamon, nutmeg, a mild hint of chili, tonka bean, poppy seeds, and vanilla. These spices are not chosen at random. Cinnamon and chili have traditionally been combined with cacao since pre-Columbian times, and several of the spices are known to support the absorption of cacao's active compounds.
Raw cacao paste (Theobroma cacao) is the unprocessed form of cacao and is made by grinding unroasted beans in a stone mill. Since the beans are not roasted, heat-sensitive substances remain intact. Its origin in the Peruvian Amazon provides an earthy, slightly bitter base with floral notes, which differs from the fruitier varieties from Ecuador. Coconut blossom sugar rounds off the blend without overpowering the cacao's character.
